Je connais plein de gens qui ne sont pas contents de leur appareil !Combien de fois ai-je entendu cette litanie ? « Mon voisin a un appareil, il ne le porte jamais. » « Ma cousine a été équipée et elle laisse son appareil dans un tiroir. » « L’ami d’un ami ma dit que les aides auditives ca marche pas (et en plus ca coute cher). » La perle c’est cette dame qui un jour m’a déclaré : « je connais 23 personnes appareillées, il n’y en a qu’une seule qui est contente ! » Alors en général on répond : « oui mais maintenant les appareils ont changé, ce n’est plus comme avant, c’est numérique avec de nombreux canaux et plusieurs micros etc etc… ». Tous les articles qui paraissent depuis presque un siècle indiquent que la nouvelle technique est meilleure que la précédente et qu’enfin les problèmes seront résolus ! On argumente aussi que les mécontents sont souvent plus véhéments que les satisfaits. Ces derniers ne crient pas leur satisfaction (d’autant qu’ils maitrisent mieux le volume de leur voix que les premiers). En fait le premier argument est fallacieux, même si il est basé sur des faits, il simplifie la problématique et détourne du vrai problème : la nécessité d’une accoutumance à l’amplification des sons et donc le rôle d’accompagnement de l’audioprothésiste (on parlait autrefois de rééducation auditive) et la qualité de ses explications, adaptées au patient. L’importance d’un réglage adapté non seulement à l’audiométrie mais aussi à la « psychologie » du patient et à son mode de vie. C’est sur ces derniers points que je voudrais apporter deux éléments. Un sondage auprès de 15545 personnes dont 1301 déficients auditifs est paru récemment (EuroTrack 2009) et a montré que 86% des personnes interrogées sont satisfaites de leur aide auditive. Il s’agit d’un courrier adressé par un malentendant à son audioprothésiste (la profession n’existait pas il s’agissait du représentant Sonotone) le suppliant presque de lui fournir son aide auditive. Compte-tenu de la date (1944) et de la technologie en question on peut penser que les appareils actuels s’ils sont bien adaptés et utilisés ne devraient pas poser de problème. Je vous laisse juge.
